Puppies Born After Moms Were Rescued From Hoarding Situation Now At County Animal Shelters
Three mother dogs gave birth to 17 puppies after they were rescued.

Sometimes there are happy endings.
More than 30 cats and dogs were rescued recently from a local hoarding situation and were taken to the Ocean County Health Department's animal shelters in Manahawkin and Jackson.
But the number kept growing, Animal Shelter Director Brian Lippai said.

"Faster than you can say, "Go fetch," three of the impounded dogs were discovered to be pregnant and within days gave birth to three litters for a total of 17 adorable puppies," he said.
All of the mothers and puppies are doing well, Freeholder Gerry P. Little, who serves as liaison to the Ocean County Board of Health.

Many people in animal hoarding situations may have good intentions, but things can get out of hand very quickly, said Public Health Coordinator Daniel F. Regenye.
"When that happens the animal facilities typically become the only option," he said.
All of the dogs from the hoarding situation were in good health and many have already found good home, Lippai said.
Most of the puppies are still being weaned and won't be ready to be adopted for several weeks, he said.
It's a busy time of year for both shelters, which have dogs and cats to choose from.
"If you've been thinking about adopting a pet now is certainly a great time," Little said. "All of our animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped and receive age appropriate vaccines."
The Ocean County Animal Facilities are located at 615 Freemont Street in Jackson and 360 Haywood Road in Manahawkin. Both facilities are open to the public seven days a week from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
