BAYVILLE, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Debbie DeYoung who nominated Samantha of Bayville, New Jersey.

How do you know the star local student?

I am lucky to be her Aunt and Godmother!

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Not only is Samantha beautiful inside and out, but she is kind, caring, funny, smart, genuine, motivated, and self driven. She has consistently maintained a 4.0gpa and continues to reach for the stars! She is also the team captain for Central Regionals Varsity Track and Field team since her Freshman year. Samantha is currently 18th in the State of New Jersey for 100H for track and field. Not a day goes by that she does not amaze me with the incredible young lady she has become. I am so honored to be her Aunt, but even more honored at the chance to nominate her as a Star Student!

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Samantha is extremely dependable and a very strong leader.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Samantha!
