Squatter Arrested In Foreclosed Home, Charged With Heroin Possession : Berkeley Cops

Beachwood man also charged with burglary and criminal mischief, police chief says.

Berkeley police recently arrested a Beachwood man after they discovered he had broken into a foreclosed home on Laurel Boulevard and stayed there for two days, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Patrolman Edward Hendrickson and Patrolman Christopher Elliott responded to a Laurel Boulevard residence on a report of a suspicious person at 5:57 p.m. on Sept. 26. They located Albert E. Palmieri III, 31, Ocean Avenue, Beachwood in a back room of the home, the chief said.

Further investigation revealed that Palmieri had broken into the foreclosed home and had been staying there for the past two days. Palmieri was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, and possession of heroin, which was found in the home, DiMichele said.

Palmieri was processed and released pending a future court date, she said.
