Sunny Skies For Ocean Beaches, But Rip Current Risk Continues

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies today at Ocean County beaches, but be sure to watch for rips. Enjoy the sunny weather today. Heavy rain is on the way for Tuesday.

The rip current risk is moderate, as it has been for the past week. Check with the local beach patrols before heading in the water. Never swim on an unguarded beach and never, ever swim alone or at night. There have been too many drownings already this summer. Don't be one of the statistics.

Waves today will be from 3 to 4 feet, with southeasterly swells of 2 feet. the ocean water temperature is 73 degrees.

Highs today will be in the lower 80s. Winds will be from the south at 5 to 10 miles per hour. The lightning threat is low, which means there is little chance of thunderstorms.

The ultraviolet index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high. So don't forget the sunscreen, or you'll hurt tonight.

High tide at Barnegat Inlet will arrive at 11:14 a.m. Low tide will roll in at 5:25 p.m., followed by another high tide at 11:29 p.m.
