Sunny Skies For Today, But Rip Current Risk Is Still Moderate

Rain is forecast for much of next week, so take advantage of today

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - Not a bad beach day, overall. So head on over to your favorite beach. It's almost August.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies with highs in the lower 80s. Winds will be from the north at 10 miles per hour, becoming southeast in the afternoon. There's no rain in sight, for today, so there's no lightning threat.

But the rip current risk is still moderate, as it has been for most of the week. Be sure to check with your local beach patrol for trouble spots before heading into the water. Rip currents can occur anywhere, anytime. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. Too many people have died in the ocean this summer. Don't add your name to the list.
