Vicari Takes Another Turn As Ocean Freeholder Director
Veteran freeholder will be sworn into 10th one-year term to ceremonial position.

Ocean County Freeholder Joseph H. Vicari will serve as director of the freeholder board in 2017, according to app.com.
It will be his tenth turn as freeholder director for Vicari, who has served on the board for 36 years.
The position is totally ceremonial and the person selected is usually up for re-election that year. It's usually a hint that the person selected for freeholder director plans to run for another term. Vicari has served 12 years on the board and will most likely seek a thirteenth year this year.

Vicari will receive an additional $1,000 in 2017 for the title. He will chair each board meeting and serve as the primary spokesperson for the all-Republican board.
"I'd like to thank our (current) freeholder director for doing an outstanding job in 2016, in a very challenging year, so as it comes to an end we'll look forward to 2017," Vicari said at the board's Dec. 21 meeting, its last scheduled session before the new year.
