BERKELEY, NJ — The holiday season is here and Berkeley residents can look forward to festive events in the upcoming weeks.
Here is a list of some holiday events near town:
Christmas Tree Lighting, Dec. 10

Berkeley Township will hold its annual Christmas tree lighting on Friday, Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. Special guests Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be on hand for the event at Veterans Park Stage. Children will be able to sit with Santa Claus and have photos taken by their family.
Christmas songs will be performed by the Central Regional High School Chorus and Central Regional Marching Band with a dance performance by Dance Force. Hot chocolate and coffee will be provided.

Holiday Movie Night - Postponed to Dec. 17
Berkeley Recreation will be showing a drive-in movie on Saturday, Dec. 17 featuring "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" with the Grinch himself making a guest appearance. Entry begins at 5 p.m. in Veterans Park. Attendees must register in advance here.
Drive-Thru Light Show, Dec. 17 - 20
The free drive-thru holiday light show, “Lighting Up Nature,” returns to Jakes Branch County Park in Beachwood this month. Gates will be open Dec. 17-20 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The holidays are just around the corner, which means Santa Claus will be making his rounds through Berkeley. Santa Claus be hitching a ride with the Bayville Volunteer Fire Company through Thursday, Dec. 9. Here's a color-coded map with times for each zone listed below:

Red: Sunday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m.
Blue: Monday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m.
Green: Tuesday, Dec. 7 5:30 p.m.
Yellow: Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m.
Purple: Thursday, Dec. 9 at 5:30 p.m.

Berkeley Recreation has partnered with Santa Claus to send letters to kids in Berkeley Township. Click the link here to register your child to receive a letter from Santa. Berkeley Recreation asks that people submit the forms by Dec. 15 to ensure your child receives the correspondence.
