Charity golf outing to benefit Alzheimer's Association Greater NJ

Basking Ridge Country Club Takes Big Swings to Support Walk to End Alzheimer's

The Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter (AAGNJ) is spotlighting people and organizations who are making a difference in the fight to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Community partner, Basking Ridge Country Club, is championing the Walk to End Alzheimer’s (WTEA)—the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

On Monday, October 30, the private golf club—established 97 years ago and now part of the exclusive Heritage Golf Group—is hosting a Charity Golf Outing in support of the event. In addition to a round of golf with cart fee included, participants will enjoy breakfast, lunch and prizes. The event is open to club members as well as the public, and all proceeds will be donated to the AAGNJ.

“The Basking Ridge Country Club has a long history and commitment to supporting and giving-back to our surrounding communities," said Basking Ridge Country Club general manager, Chris Thomas. "We have hosted numerous food and clothing drives over the years.”

"Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia affects many in our community, and that number is growing. We are honored to support the Alzheimer’s Association by hosting the charity golf outing to raise funds that will propel the Association’s mission forward—accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.”

More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, the sixth-leading cause of death in the U.S. and the only disease among the top 10 that cannot be cured, prevented, or even slowed. Additionally, more than 11 million family and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias in the U.S. In New Jersey alone, there are more than 190,000 people living with the disease and 272,000 unpaid caregivers.

"The AAGNJ is committed to collaborating with our community partners to create a safety net around those impacted by dementia," said chapter executive director Cheryl Ricci-Francione. "We provide a vast array of resources and educational programs to New Jersey residents, all at no cost. We are able to provide these services due to the generous support of our donors and community partners."

Basking Ridge Country Club is considered a jewel among golf courses in New Jersey that offers a stunning retreat of 257 acres in the beautiful tranquil area of the rolling Somerset Hills. Offering a 71-par course, practice and range facilities and a superb restaurant that overlooks the club's pristine 18th green.
