Crossroads4Hope partners with the Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation to provide cancer support in vulnerable communities

BEDMINSTER, NJ— The Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation has awarded Crossroads4Hope a $10,000 grant to fund outreach efforts for breast cancer screening, prevention and awareness for vulnerable families in Union and Essex Counties.

This collaboration comes not long after Crossroads4Hope expanded its outreach initiative in 2022. With the help of local community partners like The Elizabeth Public Library and St. Joseph’s Social Service Center, Crossroads4Hope has been able to host events related to breast cancer screening and prevention in communities that are often overlooked when it comes to cancer support.

The grant from Connie Dwyer allows Crossroads4Hope to continue its mission of providing a safe space and community for everyone affected by cancer. Senior Director of Program and Impact Katherine Schaible spoke about just why programs like this one are important:

"A breast cancer diagnosis is never easy, but when compounded by issues such as lack of transportation, food and shelter insecurity, insurance challenges, and other barriers to care, it can become overwhelming. We provide a full range of social and emotional support, not only to the patient, but to their family as well—and together with The Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation, we will take on the cancer journeys of vulnerable families in Union and Essex Counties."

A longtime advocate for cancer support for people of all backgrounds, The Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation is delighted to announce this partnership as it coincides with the upcoming 18th anniversary of the opening of the very first Connie Dwyer Breast Center in Newark, New Jersey. Director of the Foundation Sarah Roberts shared her thoughts about the partnership, saying:
