Fire Breaks Out Inside Wall Of Family's Bernardsville Home

Volunteer firefighters found the fire and worked together to extinguish it on Sunday night.

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — A fire broke out inside the walls of a Bernardsville family's home on Sunday night.

At 8:45 p.m., a family called the Bernardsville Fire Co. No. 1 & First Aid Squad to report a smoke condition before evacuating their home on Round Top Road, said Fire Chief Keith Keiling.

Firefighters found the attic charged with smoke and a light haze on the second floor. A first alarm was initiated bringing in crews from neighboring towns.

After investigating, firefighters found an active fire in the walls behind the fire place and began to "open up" and extinguish.

The fire was quickly placed under control and all units were released by 10:10 p.m. No injures were reported.

Fire departments that also helped at the scene included Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department, Liberty Corner Fire Company, Peapack Gladstone Fire Department, Basking Ridge Fire Co. No 1 & EMS, Somerset county fire coordinators, and Bernardsville Police Department.
