Outages Reduced, Republicans Win Elections Top Local News

The number of power outages is starting to slowly diminish, and the schools are finally preparing to open their doors again.

The board of education missed the 65-day deadline to appoint a new member, so the decision has to be turned over to the county superintendent, who will take applications and make an appointment.

JCP&L has promised that all Bernardsville residents will have power restored by the end of the weekend.

Bernardsville voters rejected a proposal to spend up to $1.4 million on a new turf field, but did agree to spend $10 million on road repairs, in Tuesday's elections.

Republican incumbent Steven Parker and Republican Lawrence Jacobs won seats on the Bedminster Township Committee, defeating Democrats Gail Solomon-Canty and Sasha Wolf.
