Pluckemin Presbyterian Church Chosen as "Messy Church of the Month!"
It's Church - But Not as You Know It!

The Pluckemin Presbyterian Church (PPC), located at 279 Route 202-206 in Pluckemin, was recently chosen as “Messy Church of the Month” by Messy Church USA for its work establishing a thriving, family-oriented, non-traditional worship service. Messy Church is a global movement, built on the idea that families should grow together in faith, and not view Christianity as something you grow out of once you reach confirmation age, around 12 or 13 years old.
Pluckemin Presbyterian Church began its “Messy Church” in September 2021. Since then, it has grown into a faith community that meets once a month on the second Tuesday. It is intended for children, parents, and grandparents to come together for dinner provided by the church, a brief Christian message, music and a craft or game appropriate for all in attendance.
If you’re part of the sandwich generation – sandwiched between young children and aging parents – this is a way to bring the whole family to church just as they are, you don’t need to dress up, get up early, or have any previous church experience because it does not follow a traditional Sunday format. And perhaps the best part is that you don’t need to cook!

“Messy Church” is a great alternative to traditional Sunday morning service. Here is what some of our Messy Church families have to say about it:
“I like the craft part. I like that the craft is sometimes messy. I like that the craft is fun. I like learning about God. I love singing all of the songs.” – Samantha, age 6

“I like when we eat pizza. I like when Pastor Ian asks questions and I can answer. When Pastor Ian tells a story it’s fun. I like seeing my friends at Messy Church.” – Tommy, age 6
“I like that Messy Church is a low-stress way for us to get involved in church. For us, it was our pathway back to church after having kids…I think this is a very family-friendly way to worship. I personally love the contemporary music that we use during Messy Church and love singing with my children. I enjoy the social aspect of meeting others from church and catching up with friends more at Messy Church… my children enjoy it too, and they get excited when it is a Messy Church week!”– Chrissie, age 38.
