Power Still Out for Some as Area Braces for Nor'Easter

As power outages enter day 10, and the Somerset Hills braces for yet another storm Wednesday, more than 4,000 are still without power as of 7 a.m.

According to reports from JCP&L, as of Wednesday, 1,188 customers are without power in Bedminster, as are 1,164 customers in Bernardsville.

In Bernards Township, there are 5,066 customers without power.

But Wednesday's predicted nor'easter could alter those expectations.

Gov. Chris Christie has said the nor'easter could stop restoration efforts or even lead to more power outages in the coming days.

Bedminster Township Committeeman Steven Parker said there are currently two warming stations in the area at the Pottersville Fire Department and the Bedminster Township Municipal Court on Miller Lane.

There is also a shelter still open at Bernards High School.

"I just got my power back at 11 a.m. this morning, so I know that having warming stations and places for people to go is still important," Parker said. "We're not going to let up until we're all good."

But even further north of Bedminster saw much worse conditions in the Pottersville area and into Tewksbury, Parker said.

"They got hit harder than Bedminster did, so the further north and west you go, power restoration may take a while," he said.
