Second Mailbox Vandalism Spree in Bernardsville
Eighteen mailboxes reported damaged overnight from April 2-3.

A second spree of mailbox vandalism on Bernardsville mountain that apparently occurred overnight from Tuesday through Wednesday morning is being investigated by Bernardsville Police, who are asking residents' assistance in finding a culprit or culprits.
Eighteen mailboxes reportedly were smashed overnight on Chapin Road, Dryden Road, Post Kunhardt Road, Ballantine Road and Mine Mount Road, said Bernardsville Lt. Demmings Hoadley.
Police heard about the first incident of vandalism at 7:22 a.m. on Wednesday, and other calls followed, Hoadley said.

Hoadley said the number of damaged mailboxes since that time was recalculated, since some addresses had more than one mailbox.
In both vandalism sprees, a blunt object apparently was used to damage the mailboxes, he said.
Police are asking residents to call 9-1-1 if they view a crime in progress, or to contact police at 908-766-0037 if they have non-emergency information.
