This Holiday, Give a Brick!

Commemorative bricks being sold by Friends of the Bernardsville Public Library will outlast many other gifts.

Just in time for the holidays, the Friends of the Bernardsville Public Library are reinstating the commemorative brick campaign to raise funds for many of the special programs planned for the Bernardsville Public Library in 2012.

The purchase of a brick is a permanent contribution to the library and, at the same time, allows donors to recognize a family member, commemorate a special event or milestone, honor a special person, or remember a loved one.

"We are offering bricks again because they are a popular way to support the library," said Roni Larini, president of the Friends organization. "They make wonderful gifts and also help the Friends fund programs and library resources that help make Bernardsville Public Library a STAR library year after year."

The Friends of the Bernardsville Library each year provide programs and services for the library that cannot be funded through the library’s annual operating budget.

During the past year, despite challenging economic times, contributions have enabled the Friends to fund popular children's programs as well as Sundays at Three concerts, to upgrade and improve library furnishings and technology, and purchase special books, music CDs and online resources, among other gifts, according to information from the library.

The cost of purchasing a brick for the garden courtyard is $250 and for the entry walkway is $500. That is the same as when the library opened more than 12 years ago, according to the library.
