Bloomfield Hosts Prescription Drug Take Back on Saturday

People can dispose of unwanted prescription drugs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Bloomfield Police Department headquarters on April 27.

Bloomfield will host a prescription drug buyback this weekend. 

The Bloomfield Police Department will take part in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bloomfield Police Department headquarters, located at  1 Municipal Plaza.

The service is free and anonymous, and no questions will be asked. The prescription drug buyback is for people to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs. To facilitate ease and anonymity, Bloomfield police have placed a drop box that will be at the Front Desk.

In the five previous drug buyback events, the DEA has worked in conjunction with state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners to remove more than 2 million pounds (1,018 tons) of prescription medications from circulation.

The last time Bloomfield Police Department hosted this event they collected over 33 pounds of medication. Residents with questions about the event can contact Detective Robert Miller at 973-680-4084.
