From the Bloomfield Health Department: The Bloomfield Health Department is facilitating a community focus group to aide in a new walkability initiative. The initiative aims to create more accessible and community friendly walking paths. This initiative also encourages more physical activity in the community creating a path to reducing chronic disease. The health department is seeking the communities input and feedback to increase the benefit of data collected by using the insight of local residents.

This program is being grant funded through Partners for Health Foundation, enabling the resources of consultant Charles Brown adjunct professor at Rutgers University. The plan for the walkability audits are data driven to allow for selection of streets that show significant need through concrete crash and crime data.

The focus group will be held at the Bloomfield Middle School located at 60 Huck Road, Bloomfield, NJ from 6:30PM to 8:00PM on April 20, 2017.
