Annual 'Italian Feast' Kicks off in Brick Thursday
Rides, games, food, beer/wine tent included in now-annual event

For the next few days, everyone in Brick will be Italian!
The second annual Feast of the Assumption at the Jersey Shore, a local take on the summer festivals traditionally held in Italian neighborhoods in New York City and elsewhere, will begin Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Epiphany Roman Catholic Church on Thiele Road, just off Herbertsville Road.
The feast will include an Italian food court, beer and wine garden plus entertainment each night. There will also be amusement rides and games, craft vendors on hand and 50/50 raffles.
The feast is more than just a carnival and church fundraiser, however, organizers said.
Keeping with traditions, the feast kicked off with a Novena – a prayer dedicated to St. Mary – last Friday which will continue after daily Masses through this coming Sunday.
"Our parish has a great devotion to the Virgin Mary and that devotion is seen in everything we do here at Epiphany," said Joe Mignone, one of the organizers.
Like similar festivals elsewhere, the feast will conclude with a procession around church grounds after the 12 noon Mass on Sunday.
