Former Pine Beach Police Officer Dies in Motorcycle Accident

An off-duty Texas police officer with ties to Ocean County has died in a motorcycle accident, according to published reports.

Officer John Libby of the McKinney, Tx. police department died Monday morning after the driver of a Jeep pulled out in front of his motorcycle, WFAA-TV reported.

The television station reported that police did not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, and no charges had been filed.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Department said Monday on its Facebook page that Libby had previously worked as an officer in Pine Beach. He had worked for the McKinney department since 2007, the WFAA report said.
