TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Brick Township man sought in connection with the dismemberment of a Toms River man's body has been arrested, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday night.

Jared Krysiak, 34, who was charged July 13 with hindering apprehension and desecration of human remains in connection with the death of Kerry Rollason of Toms River, was captured in Marlboro, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Toms River Police Department made the arrest, he said. No other details on the arrest were provided.

Krysiak was taken to the Ocean County Jail and will be held there pending a detention hearing, he said.

He is among four people accused of helping to dispose of the body of Kerry Rollason, 56, of Toms River, Billhimer said. The slaying of Rollason was uncovered as authorities continued to investigate the fatal shooting of Gabriella Caroleo, 25, on June 27 in Manchester, he said.

Maxwell A. Johnston, 35, who was accused of killing Caroleo, hid at the Ravenwood Drive home in Toms River that was owned by Rollason, with the aid of Elizabeth Mascarelli, 29, Billhimer said. Johnston shot himself to death to end a nearly seven-hour standoff on July 5, and Mascarelli was arrested on a charge of hindering apprehension, he said.

Krysiak, Danielle Bolstad, 42, of Barnegat, and Jarred Palumbo, 36, of Manchester, were at the home on the day of the standoff but had evacuated early on.

Billhimer said authorities uncovered information indicating a murder had taken place at the home on or about July 3, and further investigation led authorities to a property on Toms River Road in Jackson, where they found black plastic bags with body parts and other items connected to the murder.

The Ocean County Medical Examiner identified the body parts as Rollason, and determined he had been shot multiple times and beaten, the prosecutor said.

Krysiak, Mascarelli, and Bolstad helped Johnston dismember Rollason’s body, and Mascarelli, Bolstad, Krysiak, and Palumbo helped Johnston dispose of the body in Jackson, Billhimer said.

Anyone with information regarding the case is urged to call Detective Denis Mitchell of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027, ext. 2476, or Detective James Carey of the Toms River Police Department at 732-349-0150.
