JACKSON, NJ — After seven years, Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Great Adventure is ending.

Six Flags officials confirmed the light show that started in 2017 at Great Adventure is not returning for the 2025 holiday season or beyond. In addition, officials confirmed the opening of the planned new roller coaster at Great Adventure is being delayed until 2027.

The news isn't all bad: Six Flags is rolling out a companywide season pass program that will allow people to purchase passes good for the remainder of 2025 and all of 2026 that provide access to all of the theme parks in the Six Flags Entertainment group. The pass program is to celebrate the anniversary of the Six Flags-Cedar Fair merger, the company said.

The demise of Holiday in the Park was the result of much research, park officials said.

"We’ve made a strategic decision to focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences during our core operating season — spring through fall," a spokesman said. "This shift allows us to concentrate our efforts and resources during the time when the majority of our guests visit Great Adventure, and weather conditions can more consistently support our goal to deliver an enjoyable and memorable visit for all."

"We know fall is one of the most popular times of the year, and we look forward to welcoming guests to Fright Fest for more thrills and chills! Details on this year’s event will be shared soon," the spokesman said.

One detail park officials shared is 2025 season passholders will receive one Bring-a-Friend ticket for use this fall for Fright Fest.

As for the roller coaster project, construction has begun, but officials said the size of the world-class size and scope of the project means it will take a bit longer to complete than originally anticipated, officials said.

"To ensure the ride meets our high standards of innovation, thrills and safety that guests expect and deserve, and that we’re able to debut it in the spring so our guests can enjoy it all season, we have revised the timeline beyond 2026," the spokesman said. "We appreciate the continued support and patience of our guests, partners, and team members."

The special season pass offer, which goes on sale Tuesday, allows unlimited access to more than 40 Six Flags Entertainment Corporation parks for the remainder of 2025 and all of 2026.

"This massive benefit is one that only Six Flags Entertainment can provide with more than 40 amusement, water and animal parks spanning three countries," said Christian Dieckmann, chief commercial officer for Six Flags. "A 2026 Six Flags season pass is your international passport to fun with dynamic family entertainment, refreshing thrills and the world’s most exhilarating roller coasters."

All 2026 Six Flags Great Adventure Gold and Prestige Passes purchased or renewed from Tuesday, July 29 through Sept. 1 will include the multipark access as part of its "MVP (Most Valuable Pass) Sale."

The sale will feature:

  • Lowest pricing of the year plus free parking
  • 2026 Gold Pass purchases will include one bonus 2025 bring-a-friend-for-free ticket
  • 2026 Prestige Pass purchases will include two bonus 2025 bring-a-friend-for-free tickets

It includes additional benefits like in-park discounts on food and merchandise, exclusive bring-a-friend-for-free ticket offers, and access to Fright Fest.
