Mallard Point Park Project Going Out For Bids In Brick After Lengthy Delays
Money for the project was first allocated in 2018, Brick Township officials said.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township officials are accepting bids on reconstruction of Mallard Point Park, seven years after the town set aside money to pay for the project.
Funding for the renovations was part of the capital budget in 2018 but efforts to move forward were beset by lengthy permitting delays, Mayor Lisa Crate said Tuesday at the Brick Township Council meeting.
The park lies along Kettle Creek on Tunes Brook Drive, and as such required permits from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Crate said obtaining those permits has been a slow process but has finally received them.

The planned work includes reconstruction of the fishing and crabbing dock along with the installation of kayak racks, playground equipment, swings, beach replenishment and a walking path.
The contractor also will be constructing stone breakwaters in the Kettle Creek to protect the park from the erosive action of the creek, officials said.

The plans for those breakwaters required not only NJDEP approval but the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers had to sign off as well, Brick ShoreBeat reported.
The project is estimated to cost $1 million, the ShoreBeat report said.
