Man Who Fled Brick Police, Nearly Caused Crashes In 2021 Pleads Guilty

The North Jersey man sped off when police tried to pull him over and repeatedly went into oncoming traffic when he fled, police said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A North Jersey man has pleaded guilty to running from Brick Township police after they tried to pull him over for multiple driving violations in 2021, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

Ally Golo, 41, of Hackensack, pleaded guilty to a charge of eluding before Superior Court Judge Kimarie Rahill in Ocean County on Monday, the prosecutor's office said.

Golo was arrested in Brick on April 27, 2021, authorities said. Brick police saw a blue Chevrolet Malibu in town and saw the driver "commit multiple motor vehicle violations," authorities said, nearly causing a crash.

When they tried to pull the Malibu over, Golo sped away, ignoring signals to stop and repeatedly crossing into the oncoming traffic lane, authorities said.

Golo tried to turn onto Godfrey Lake Drive and as he did so lost control and hit a guardrail, but kept going, then crashed into a parked car near the Maple Leaf Condominiums. Golo kept going onto Sawmill Road before stopping the car and getting out to run, authorities said.

Officers chased him and ultimately arrested him, authorities said. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail and later released due to New Jersey Bail Reform, the prosecutor's office said.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 27 and prosecutors will be seeking a five-year prison sentence, the prosecutor's office said.
