The Brick Township branch of the Ocean County Library was recognized at the April 16 council meeting as part of National Library Week.
A proclamation recognizing the library and its value to the community was read and voted on – passing unanimously – by the council.
"It's amazing how many people use this library," said Councilman Dan Toth, who said his own family visits often.

"It's nice to get proclamations, but it's also nice to be able to thank you, Brick Township, for your support," said Susan Gardiner, the branch manager.
"It's been quite a year since I stood up here last year," said Gardiner, reflecting on a project that remodeled the library branch, only to have Superstorm Sandy strike a few days after its reopening in October.

"In those days after Sandy, we were happy to welcome people in just to provide a bit of normalcy," said Gardiner, expressing how people came to the library for everything from heat to a place to charge one's phone. "We just thank you for the support, and it is an honor to serve this wonderful, wonderful community."
