The Ocean County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a tee shirt purchasing scam targeting locals. Here's what to know:

OCEAN COUNTY - The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a tee shirt purchasing scam targeting locals.

Scammers will message Ocean County residents via text in an attempt to sell Ocean County Sheriff’s Office-branded hoodies for a $10 discount, authorities said in a statement.

The message will include an unverified link to a Rebrand.ly link, a suspected scam link according to Scam Watcher, which separately warns that the redirected site tries to obtain users’ banking details.

“If you receive this message do not reply,” the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office said. “We do not solicit whatsoever!”
