4-H Celebrating National Puppetry Day

April 20 will be all about celebrating different kinds of puppets.

Puppets will be dancing and playing when the Somerset County 4-H celebrates its National Day of Puppetry with the Pretty Cool 4-H Puppetry Club of Somerset County and the Garden State Puppetry Guild.

The event will be held April 20. There will be a session for children in grades kindergarten through fifth from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., costing $15 per child.

This first session will include workshops on how to make and manipulate all kinds of puppets.

An afternoon program will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with the “Puppet Potpourri Extravaganza” being performed by the Puppetry Guild and Pretty Cool 4-H Puppetry Club. The show will feature all kinds of puppetry styles, including marionettes and others.

Later, the Chinese Culture Club will perform their Lions’ Dance.

This program is completely free and open to the public.

All programs will be held at the Somerset County Ted Blum 4-H Center on Milltown Road in Bridgewater.
