Bridgewater Lacrosse Player Selected For Team USA

Colin Kurdyla was selected for Team USA's U‑20 squad at the upcoming World Lacrosse Championships in Jeju Island, South Korea.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Township native and grandson of Bridgewater Councilman Allen Kurdyla, Colin, has been selected for Team USA’s U‑20 squad at the upcoming World Lacrosse Championships in Jeju Island, South Korea, running Aug. 15 to 24.

"What a tremendous honor! Colin earned his place after intense tryouts and training camps and now joins a roster of elite young athletes representing our country on the world stage," wrote Bridgewater Township Government.

"From his standout performance as a sophomore at Rutgers — where he racked up an impressive 27 goals and 40 assists, earned All‑American recognition, and was named Second Team All‑Big Ten — to academic honors and consistent excellence in every game — Colin is the embodiment of talent and determination," continued the Township.

The U.S. will open its schedule on Friday with a pool play game against Canada and will also have pool play games against Australia and the Haudenosaunee. All four participants from Pool A will automatically advance to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs, which begin on Aug. 21. The gold medal game is scheduled for Aug. 24.

A winner of the Werblin Award and an Academic All-Big Ten selection, Kurdyla has played in 30 games across his first two seasons as a Scarlet Knight. In that time, he has scored 47 goals and added 23 assists for 70 points, according to the Scarlet Knights.
