Fast-Acting Cops Rescue Trapped Resident From Burning Home In Somerset County
Additional residents, along with two dogs and a cat were also rescued by firefighters on Wednesday morning.

BOUND BROOK, NJ — Fast-acting police officers rescued a resident trapped on the second floor of a burning home in Bound Brook on Wednesday.
At around 6:27 a.m., the Bound Brook Police Department and Bound Brook Fire Department were called to a reported structure fire with entrapment at 351 Grove Avenue.
Officers saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the home.

"Acting quickly, officers secured a nearby ladder and rescued a resident from a second-floor window," said Bound Brook Police Sergeant Robert Pikulin.
Additional residents, along with two dogs and a cat, were evacuated from the home by firefighters, said Pikulin.

Finderne Fire Department, North Plainfield Fire Department, and East Franklin Fire Department also came to help in extinguishing the fire.
All occupants of the home were accounted for and evaluated on scene by EMS.
One firefighter was taken by Bound Brook EMS for treatment of a minor injury. The displaced residents are being helped by the American Red Cross.
"The quick actions of our officers and firefighters this morning prevented what could have been a far more tragic outcome," said Chief Gianotto. "Their teamwork and bravery under dangerous conditions reflect the very best of our community’s emergency services.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Bound Brook Police Department and the Bound Brook Fire Marshal’s Office.
