Firefighters Rescue Kitten Trapped In Storm Drain On Route 22 In Somerset County
The ginger and white colored kitten was turned over to the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter on Wednesday for rehabilitation.
BRANCHBURG, NJ — Volunteer firefighters rescued a kitten that was trapped in a storm drain on Route 22 in Branchburg on Wednesday.
Around 1 p.m., North Branch Volunteer Fire Company responded to a call for a kitten trapped in a storm drain on Route 22.
"Thanks to some quick thinking and careful work, the little one is safe and sound with Somerset Animal Shelter — proving yet again that no stereotype is too small to live up to," said the fire department.

Somerset Regional Animal Shelter Director Brian Bradshaw said the kitten was a "little dirty" and they will work to rehabilitate the kitten back to health.
The kitten will be kept at the shelter for 10 days for blood work, vaccinations, and being neutered or spayed before being available for adoption.

Bradshaw said the shelter is currently packed with cats for anyone looking to adopt.
The Somerset Regional Animal Shelter(SRAS) at 100 Commons Way in Bridgewater is open daily from noon to 3:30 p.m.
SRAS is a nonprofit organization that services pets in the Somerset County area. The shelter is always in need of donations.
