Somerset County Hosting First Saturday Drop-Off Event
County residents can recycle tires, clean textiles and usual curbside items at this drop-off event.

Somerset County is hosting its “First Saturday of the Month” drop-off this coming weekend, allowing residents to empty clutter and clean up their homes.
The drop-off event will take place at the Somerset County Recycling Center, located at 40 Polhemus Lane in Bridgewater, on Saturday, June 6, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Residents can drop off numerous items at the First Saturday event, including recycling tires, clean textiles and “usual curbside items,” according to Somerset County officials. Additionally, participants can donate food items to local food banks during the drop-off event.

Residents can drop off up to eight tires (with or without rims), scrap metal, used motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze and usual curbside materials, the county said. Usual curbside material includes items such as chipboard items, plastic bottles and containers, marked No. 1 through No. 7.
Additionally, clean dry textiles will be accepted throughout the year at scheduled Saturday drop-off events. Textiles include drapes, curtains, sheets, towels, belts, handbags, shoes (pairs), clean cloth and small stuffed animals, county officials said. Textiles only will be accepted in a plastic bag.

No household hazardous waste or consumer electronics (e-waste) will be accepted at First Saturday Drop-off events.
