Somerset County Libraries Host "Haunts and History" Events

Explore Bone-Chilling & Suspenseful Stories with SCLSNJ this October.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ - The leaves are changing color, apples are ready for picking, and pumpkins are preparing to be transformed into jack-o-lanterns. It is fall in New Jersey and the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey is excited.

Four SCLSNJ library branches will be hosting fascinating and haunting programs this October:

Hollowed Harvest Tales: Chilling Stories & Songs for the Season (families & children ages 10+)
October 12, 7-8:30 p.m. at SCLSNJ's Hillsborough Library branch, located at 379 S. Branch Rd. in Hillsborough
Ken Galipeau will weave stories with folk and bluegrass music, enticing all who attend to participate in this seasonal music celebration.

East Coast Ghosts (adults)
October 18, 7-8 p.m. at SCLSNJ's Bound Brook Memorial Library branch, located at 402 E. High St. in Bound Brook
Author Carlotta Holton will present a variety of stories from Salem, MA to Savannah, GA, including The Ghost of Giles Corey, The Ghost of Jerusha Howe, and the Secret Drawer Society at Longfellow’s Wayside Inn.

Ghostly Tales and Legends from the Somerset Hills (adults)
October 29, 2-3:30 p.m. at SCLSNJ's Bridgewater Library branch, located at 1 Vogt Dr. in Bridgewater
Gordon Thomas Ward, author, musician, presenter, and co-star of an upcoming television series about paranormal encounters, will share stories from the Somerset Hills and surrounding area that will put you in the Halloween mood.

Ghosthunting New Jersey & New York City (adults)
October 29, 2-4 p.m. at SCLSNJ's Manville Library branch, located at 100 S. 10th Ave. in Manville
L'Aura Hladik Hoffman, Founder & Director NJ Ghost Hunters Society, details the history and haunts of Jersey and The Big Apple.
