Trapped Driver Rescued From Tractor-Trailer Crash On I-78 In Somerset County

Volunteer firefighters rescued the driver of the tractor-trailer on Interstate 78 following a crash on Friday night.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — A trapped driver of a tractor-trailer was rescued by volunteer firefighters following a crash on Interstate 78 in Bedminster on Friday night.

New Jersey State Police(NJSP) Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. on I-78 West at milepost 32.2 in Bedminster Township.

"Based on a preliminary investigation, a tractor-trailer lost directional control and overturned," said NJSP Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron.

Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department also arrived at the crash and confirmed "the driver of the vehicle was entrapped."

Firefighters extricated the driver for evaluation by EMS. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.
