Attorney Seeks Council Seat in North Caldwell

Republican Joshua H. Raymond to run with Arthur Rees for borough council.

North Caldwell resident Joshua H. Raymond announced Monday he will run for council as a Republican with running mate Councilman Arthur Rees. 

While Rees seeks a second three-year term, Raymond would fill the seat vacated by longtime Councilman Jim Campbell.

"I am excited about the opportunity to serve the borough and its residents," Raymond said Monday.

The deadline for Republicans and Democrats to be included on the June primary ballot was Monday at 4 p.m. With no other petitions submitted by the deadline, it appears the Republicans will run unopposed. 

"My running mate, Arthur Rees, has a proven track record of accomplishment," Raymond said. "I also have a tremendous amount of respect for Mayor Joseph Alessi and the entire council for their dedication to the borough."

Raymond has served as a member of the North Caldwell Zoning Board of Adjustment since 2010.

"In this capacity I have worked with great public servants and learned about many of the issues facing the borough," he said.

Raymond is a partner since 2004 in West Orange-based Trenk, DiPasquale, Della Fera & Sodono, specializing in the areas of bankruptcy, corporate restructuring, debtor/creditor rights, and commercial litigation. He has been with the firm since 1998.

He was previously a prosecutor for West Orange property maintenance violations and a public defender for the borough of Ringwood.

Raymond, 41, lives in North Caldwell with his wife Alisa and their two children, Max, 6, and Hailey, 4. They are members of Congregation Agudath Israel in Caldwell.

He is a Little League coach for the North Caldwell Dodgers.

The New Jersey Primary elections will be held on Tuesday, June 4.
