Booster Club Purchases Lift for James Caldwell High School

Gift will make it easier, safer to work on backdrops for school productions.

The James Caldwell High School Center for Performing arts just got a needed lift.

Fundraising efforts by the Caldwell-West Caldwell high school’s Music & More Booster Club resulted in the purchase of a scissor lift to be used primarily for setting up and breaking down sets during drama and musical productions.

The non-profit booster club comprised of parent volunteers traditionally raises money for scholarships and the school’s annual music tour. But for the past two years, the group focused on the need for a lift.

“Over the past one to two years, we put money aside to purchase something special for the school,” parent and Music & More co-president Ron Goltsch said in a release. “Some of the teachers suggested the idea of the lift, and we began the search.”

The refurbished lift cost $5,000 and is considered a safer alternative to using ladders for designing and creating backdrops.
