Caldwell Jr. Wrestling Impressive at County Tournament
Christian Dalla Riva holds record as four-time county champion.
The Caldwell Junior Wrestling Team placed fourth overall in the Suburban Essex Junior Wrestling League County Tournament held on Feb. 23 at West Orange High School.
Each of the 13 teams in the county league sent their best wrestlers in 17 weight classes to vie for county champion.
Christian Dalla Riva, an 8th grader, won a gold medal and holds the distinction of being a four-time county champion, better than any other Caldwell wrestler.

Twins Alex and Darren Jones (6th graders) are now both three-time county champs. Their brother Jerry and sister Kayla are two-time silver medalists.

Christian Dalla Riva 126 lbs. – Gold Medal
Darren Jones 70 lbs. – Gold Medal
Alex Jones 95 lbs. – Gold Medal
Jerry Jones 100 lbs. – Silver Medal
Luke Schaffer 75 lbs. – Silver Medal
Kayla Jones 65 lbs. – Silver Medal
Kyle Schaffer 119 lbs. – Bronze Medal
Thomas Rodgers 105 lbs. – 4th Place
Dan Fano 112 lbs. – 5th Place
Ricky Caamano 60 lbs. – 6th Place
Greg Polone Hwt. – 8th place
Two other Caldwell Jr. wrestlers were not able to attend the county tourney and instead participated in the Pequannock Tournament. Anthony Valentino (119 lbs.) took first place and Brian Glennon (60 lbs.) took fourth.
