Four West Essex High School Students Recognized as ShopRite STARS
Four students from the North Caldwell school were recognized by ShopRite for their academic, volunteer, and extracurricular achievements.

Four West Essex High School students have been named ShopRite STARS for their academic, volunteer and extracurricular achievements.
West Essex High School Principal Gary Suda announced the first marking period winners this week. The winners are: Fairfield senior Athena Marousis for academics, Essex Fells senior Ariana Daly for the Arts; North Caldwell senior Jake Gilbert for Athletics and Roseland senior Victoria Dominguez for Leadership, and Richard Sessa, a senior from Roseland, for Service to the Community.

Athena Marousis, who has a 4.3417 GPA, is president of the National English Honor Society, FBLA, DECA and the Italian Club. She is also Editor-in-Chief of “The Roundtable” literary magazine and was the Editor-in-Chief of the Spring 2014 edition of “The Roundtable” which earned a prestigious Silver Medal award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Athena is also taking five AP classes this year.
Ariana Daly

Ariana Daly received a merit scholarship for Pratt Institute’s Pre-College. She is a president of the Art Club and is a member of the National Art Honor Society. Ariana is also taking AP Studio Art.
Jake Gilbert
Jake Gilbert is captain of the West Essex Knights Varsity soccer team and a member of the Varsity golf team.
Victoria Dominguez
Victoria Dominguez has been the drum major for the West Essex High School Marching Band for the past three years. Besides conducting the band, it is her responsibility to run rehearsals efficiently and assist members with music and marching. She is also the lead alto sax player in the high school jazz band and is a member of the high school concert band, the Caldwell College honors band, the North Jersey Region Band and the North Jersey Area Band.
Richard Sessa
Richard is a volunteer with the Roseland Fire Department and also heads the high school theater department tech crew.
Each marking period, High School Principal Gary Suda asks high school staff to nominate students for the ShopRite Stars program recognizing their accomplishments in academics, the arts, athletics, leadership and service to the community.
Student winners will have their photograph displayed in the High School main office and in the West Caldwell ShopRite. ShopRite will also make a $1,000 award towards Project Graduation.
Mr. Ned Gladstein, the owner of ShopRite in West Caldwell in 1999 to recognize the accomplishments of West Essex High School students, created the program. The program has continued with much success.
