Jefferson Students Drop Everything and Read (Photo)

"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child." —Dr. Seuss

The National Education Association's Read Across America Week, a time dedicated to instill the love of reading in children, coincides each year around beloved children's author Dr. Seuss' March 2 birthday. 

Jefferson Elementary School students in West Caldwell celebrated Read Across America Week (Feb. 25 through March 1) by wearing red and blue one day for One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and green another day for Green Eggs and Ham.  

On Wednesday, Feb. 27, students were asked to "drop everything and read" for 15 minutes. D.E.A.R. events are used to remind and encourage families to make reading together on a daily basis a family priority.
