Kiwanis Club Honors Maria Burak for Community Service

Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex held annual awards dinner at Hanover Manor.

The Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex presented Maria Burak, Director of Human Services for the Borough of Caldwell, with the Kiwanis Community Service Award, the service club announced recently.

The award was presented on Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Hanover Manor during the club's 89th Charter Night.

As the second largest Kiwanis club in the New Jersey District, President Mildred Fitzburgh highlighted some of the ways in which Maria Burak has impacted the West Essex communities she serves, including running the Caldwell Food Pantry and the Grover Cleveland Senior Center.

The Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex also awarded Hixson Fellow JoAnn Dixon the NJ District Carrington-Swaine Fellowship, and Bob Hodge and Bill Fried each were awarded Hixson Fellows. 

The focus of the Kiwanis Club is on "changing the world one community and one child at a time."
