McKeon and Jasey Seek Re-Election to N.J. Assembly

The Democrats represent the 27th District, which includes Caldwell, Essex Fells and Roseland.

Assembly Members John F. McKeon and Mila M. Jasey (D-27th) will seek re-election to the New Jersey General Assembly, according to an announcement made this week. 

Assemblyman McKeon, a resident of West Orange, was first elected to the General Assembly in 2001. He previously served 12 years as mayor of West Orange, and six years on the township council.

McKeon is a member of the Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance, Judiciary and State Government committees.

"Serving the people of the 27th District has been my distinct honor and privilege,” McKeon said in his announcement that he would seek another two-year term on the Assembly. “With their support, I will continue to work with Governor Codey and Assemblywoman Jasey to further reduce our residents' property tax burden, safeguard our state's land, air and water, and ensure that New Jersey is an affordable place for middle-class families.”

Assemblywoman Jasey was first elected to the General Assembly in 2007. She served three terms on the South Orange Maplewood Board of Education, including two years as president.

Jasey is vice-chair of the Assembly Housing & Local Government Committee and a member of the Assembly Education committee. She lives in South Orange.

"I appreciate the opportunity—and responsibility—of working to protect the health and quality of life for all our residents, to make New Jersey affordable for middle-class families and to ensure all our children receive the best possible education," Jasey said in the announcement.

McKeon and Jasey will be running on the Democratic ticket in November with Sen. Richard J. Codey, and presumptive Democratic gubernatorial nominee Senator Barbara Buono.

New Jersey’s 27th Legislative District represents Caldwell, Chatham Township, Essex Fells, East Hanover, Florham Park, Livingston, Hanover Township (Whippany and Cedar Knolls), Harding, Madison, Maplewood, Millburn/Short Hills, Roseland, South Orange and West Orange.
