Rand Paul Calls Grover Cleveland a Favorite Democratic President
Potential GOP presidential candidate says he admires the 19th century Democrat for his frequent vetoes, opposing special interests.

Republican Sen. Rand Paul named Caldwell-born U.S. President Grover Cleveland as one of his favorite Democratic presidents on Wednesday.
The Kentucky senator and GOP presidential hopeful praised the 19th-century president during a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.
Rand called Cleveland a populist and said he admires him for often vetoing the bills that came before his desk and opposing special interests.

In the breakfast interview with reporters, the Tea Party conservative also said he is a fan of Henry David Thoreau, a poet, author, philosopher and leading transcendentalist.
Cleveland, who lived in Caldwell until he was four-years-old, is a perennial nominee for the N.J. Hall of Fame. His birthplace was named one of 50 Best Presidential Sites by Lonely Planet.
