Suspicious Incident Evacuates Community Center, Police Say
Incident reported by an employee of the Caldwell Community Center remains under investigation.

Caldwell Community Center members had their workouts interrupted Monday morning when the building was evacuated due to a report of a suspicious incident, a police official said.
A report of suspicious activity was made by an employee of the community center at 1 Provost Square, at 9:02 a.m., Caldwell Police Chief James Bongiorno said.
A check of the building by the Essex County Sheriff's Department K9 Unit and Bomb Squad did not reveal anything unusual, Bongiorno said.

Members were told to remove their belongings and all bags were checked upon exiting the building.
By 11 a.m., activity in the center had returned to normal.

The incident remains under investigation.
The Caldwell Community Center is a one-story building belonging to the borough that includes a gymansium, workout room, fitness studio and pool and is the site of the Grover Cleveland Senior Center.
