West Essex Middle School Names November Students of the Month

West Essex Middle School has named the November students of the month. These four exceptional students were chosen for their academic achievements and character traits such as perseverance and honesty.

7th Grade Students of the Month Reem Aly and Nick Frangione

Reem Aly

Reem always has a smile on her face and is always kind to everyone around her. She participates in class, demonstrates perseverance and takes her studies seriously. Reem is a hard worker and a positive role model for her seventh grade peers. She is a pleasure to have in class. Reem, a resident of North Caldwell, enjoys basketball and softball.

Nick Frangione

Nick is a hardworking student who always gives his best effort. He is polite and respectful of teachers and his peers. He is the first to offer assistance if a student needs help. Nick is a dedicated student who participates in class and is enthusiastic about learning. He is a pleasure to have in class. Nick, a resident of Roseland, plays football for the West Essex Cowboys. He also enjoys basketball and is a New England Patriots fan.

8th Grade Students of the Month Hailey DeVita and Jimmy Lynch

Hailey DeVita

Hailey is an enthusiastic and hardworking student. She demonstrates leadership skills when working with her classmates and is always pleasant and polite. Hailey is a resident of North Caldwell and enjoys skiing. She is a member of the West Essex Middle School Field Hockey team and also plays lacrosse for West Essex in the spring.

Jimmy Lynch

Jimmy always has a smile on his face and helps to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom. He is an excellent student who always puts forth the effort required to be successful. Jimmy, a resident of Fairfield, is a member of the West Essex Middle School Art Club and STEM Club. He enjoys hanging out with his friends and plans to participate in West Essex Spring Track.

Selecting the Student of the Month

Every month, West Essex Middle School will select four students to be recognized and honored as the Students of the Month. Two students from each grade will be selected and the selection for each month will come from one academic team at each grade level. Cross-teamed students will not be neglected and will also be included in the selection process.

To be selected as a Student of the Month, the middle school staff has decided to base candidates and selections on a review of the “whole” student not just the student with the best grades. Character traits such as honesty, perseverance, responsibility, integrity and leadership as well as a student’s academic qualities will be included in selecting students to be honored.

Honored students will have their pictures displayed in the middle school display case outside of the main office and on the middle school website. Honorees are also recognized during the morning announcements and receive a certificate recognizing their accomplishment, a “Student of the Month” locker magnet and a $5 Student Store Gift Card.
