Power Restored To All Customers In Chatham Township Area

CHATHAM, NJ — Power outages were impacting residents across Chatham Township on Monday morning.

According to a statement from the area's electric provider, Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), the power outages, which were affecting various areas around Chatham Township and the nearby community of New Providence, have since been cleared.

In Chatham, more than 2,000 customers were without power, JCP&L said.

The cause of the outage was animal contact with power lines, according to utility spokesman Chris Hoenig.
