James Rynar, D.M.D., of Florham Park, has become a partner in The Chatham Club, which he calls “the premiere boutique health and squash club in NJ.” He joins William Lum and Stanton Feeley who, together with James Prisco, founded a squash racquets club 34 years ago on Southern Boulevard in Chatham that is now The Chatham Club.
Dr. Rynar played on the squash team at Brown University and has played at The Chatham Club for 25 years. “It’s good to have an active squash player as a partner,” said Feeley. “Jim knows the club and we know him. He cares about fitness, the community and helping people take care of themselves so as to lengthen and enjoy their quality of life.”
“I am proud to be a partner with Stan and Bill,” said Rynar, who has acquired Prisco’s share of the Club. “I share their vision of maintaining cutting edge standards.” The club offers more than 90 fitness classes each week, many unavailable elsewhere in the area, including many forms of yoga, group exercise, spinning, kinesis, power plate, Pilates, TRX suspension training, Step 360, Zumba, and boxing conditioning.

Dr. Rynar considers the club’s fitness instructors to be the best in New Jersey. “I know all the trainers, many of them for years,” he said. “They are all devoted to our members.”
One of his goals is to encourage “the warmth and camaraderie of the club” through more member interaction on and off site. Also, he states, “We will continue contributing to community service, youth and religious organizations.”

He would also like the squash program to continue to grow. Mitchell Squash at The Chatham Club, run by head pro Geoff Mitchell, is a major supporter of the NJRSA and sponsors professional exhibitions.
“Our junior program develops sportsmanship and athleticism in young players,” said Dr. Rynar. “Some of them will play squash at the college level, and we hope all will continue to play for their own health and fitness.” He also wants to encourage more women to take up squash at the entry, intermediate and advanced levels.
“I have been a close friend of Christine Rutgers for all these years,” said Dr. Rynar of the club’s manager. “I feel like I’m with family here.”
Mr. Feeley said, “Bill, Chris and I are thrilled to have found someone with the same vision we have for the future. If it’s a good idea for the club, we’ll do it.”
