Claudia Stillwaggon, a 20-year veteran in family ministries, has joined The Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township as the new Director of Children’s Ministries. She will be responsible for all the children’s ministries from nursery through confirmation, which includes church school, family events and vacation bible school, among others.
The Senior Pastor, Ed Halldorson noted, “We are very excited to have Claudia join our staff. She brings to this position her experience, competence and deep faith. Claudia has already assembled an excellent teaching staff, and is leading them with creativity and enthusiasm. The congregation looks forward to the way Claudia is guiding our Christian Education program into the future.”
Stillwaggon believes that although ministry has its rewards and challenges, serving needs to be fun and creative too, and invites everyone to come to play. In fact, just a few weeks into her new position, with the blessing of the Christian Education committee, she renamed the children’s educational level of the church “Kingdom Come” after a verse from Marc 10, "Let all the children come, for the Kingdom belongs to us all..." Here wild animals adorn the walls and classrooms, creating an inviting space for children to learn and have fun.
