You might notice something a little different about the football team's uniform when they take the field Friday.
October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, and The JTB Heart Club at Chatham High arranged for all the sports teams to wear red shoe laces to raise local awareness.
The is a nonprofit organization founded by Chatham residents Dave and JoAnne Babbitt to raise awareness and prevention of sudden cardiac death. The Babbitts’ son, John, died of sudden cardiac arrest in 2006 at the age of 16 while playing basketball in the gym at St. Patrick Church.

The foundation has clubs at high schools and colleges throughout the country. The Heart Club chapter at Chatham High will sell red shoe laces at the game and at Chatham High during lunch between Oct. 10 and 14.
