Chatham Borough to Fine Illegal Dumping at Recycling Facility
The Borough announced those who illegally dump items at the recycling center could be subject to a fine.

Chatham Borough announced it will be enforcing a fine for illegal dumping at the Summit Avenue recycling center.
The fine for illegal dumping at the Summit Avenue recycling center, located at 99 Summit Ave., will cost $1,000, according to a report from TAPinto.net.
Councilman John Holman said signs will be posted at the recycling center warning of the fine, in hopes it will deter illegal dumping at the site. The councilman said a lot of construction material, including windows, doors and general trash, were being dumped at the recycling center, according to the report.

“The ongoing problem is non-recyclable products, especially from people not from Chatham, being dumped there,” Holman said to TAPinto.net. “We looked at several different measures and one of the things that we can do under the current rules is levy a fine to people who illegally dump in that area. We do have access to surveillance, so we can find out who is dumping.”
