Chatham High School Nominated for 7 Theater Awards

The Chatham High School theater department has been recognized by Montclair State University.

The Chatham High School theater department has been nominated for seven Montclair Theatre Night awards from Montclair State University.

The high school has been nominated for its production of “Firebirds” and “Snow Angel”, a pair of one-act plays performed in November 2014, according to a report from TAPinto.net.

Chatham High School, in competition with 75 other schools across New Jersey, was nominated for the following “Theatre Night” awards by Montclair State University:

  • Outstanding Achievement by an Acting Ensemble
  • Outstanding Overall Production of a High School Play
  • Outstanding Production of a Comedy
  • Outstanding Achievement in Scenic Design
  • Outstanding Achievement in Lighting Design
  • Outstanding Achievement in Direction
  • Outstanding Achievement in Stage Crew

Montclair State University created its annual “Theatre Night” to recognize excellence in the production of high school and middle school non-musical plays throughout New Jersey. According to the university, the awards honor both the accomplishments of students and educators in the areas of performance, direction, design, and technical theatre, as well as outstanding productions in the following genres: Drama, Comedy, Classical, and New Work.

The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony at Montclair State University on Monday, May 11.
