Cops: Man Caught After Fleeing Bar

arrested a Kenilworth man as he tried to leave the Thursday.
Kurt Buttkus, 42, was charged with driving while intoxicated, obstruction, reckless driving, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, driving while suspended and failure to exhibit documents.
Officers arrived for a report of three patrons fighting at about 10:45 p.m., police said. Officers observed one of the participants speeding away from the scene in a pickup truck, according to police.

The vehicle was stopped on River Road in Chatham Township and the driver was identified Buttkus, who had been yelling at other patrons, police said.
Buttkus was described by police as very uncooperative and he showed signs of intoxication.

Buttkus was placed under arrest and brought to headquarters for processing, according to police.
Buttkus was released to a friend pending further court action, police said.
