Downed Trees, Power Lines Close Road In Chatham Township

CHATHAM, NJ — A section of River Road is blocked in Chatham Township due to a downed tree falling in the roadway, according to the Chatham Township Police Department.

River Road between Bridge Avenue in Chatham Township and Lacey Avenue in Long Hill Township will remain closed as police attempt to remove the tree and power lines from the roadway.

"Due to powerlines being involved, there is no current estimated time for when the road will be open," the police department said.

Drivers are asked to plan an alternate route.
